Race City USA Welcomes Petty Racing

The winningest organization in NASCAR is now making its home in Mooresville. Petty Enterprises has moved their operations to the shop space formerly occupied by Robert Yates Racing. The move includes the #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge driven by Bobby Labonte and the #45 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil/Wells Fargo/Tire Kingdom Dodge driven by Kyle Petty. It’s another move in the forward direction since 2006 when Robbie Loomis was named Vice President of Race Operations and 2000 Nextel Cup champion Bobby Labonte was announced as driver of the famed 43 Dodge.

As of January 7, the organization began operating completely out of their 115,000 square foot facility in Mooresville, N.C.

Since its inception in 1949 through the 2007 season, Petty Enterprises had been based out of Level Cross, N.C. From this home the team earned 268 NASCAR Sprint Cup wins, 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup championships and nine Daytona 500 trophies. Intertwined in the movement of man and machine is a renewed commitment to winning that produced such a successful legacy.

“This is an exciting time to be a part of the Petty Enterprises’ family,” said Executive Vice President of Race Operations Robbie Loomis. “NASCAR is going in a new direction with the new car, so we felt this was the right time to make our transition. The fact that the move was finished ahead of schedule shows our determination.”
